The Russellville Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic is proud to announce the opening of our new Milk Depot, in partnership with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Milk Bank. This marks the first private clinic in Arkansas to offer a designated drop-off location for breast milk donations.
This depot supports UAMS’s mission of providing donor milk for infants in need, ensuring better health outcomes for sick and vulnerable babies across Arkansas.
Complete the initial donor survey. You can complete it on any smart phone or computer. The initial survey takes around 5 minutes to complete!
The UAMS Milk Bank will call you to answer any questions and discuss the remainder of the screening process (takes about 5-10 minutes).
There will be emails that follow this call collecting more of your detailed medical history (10-15 minutes).
Then 2 more emails will ask you to consent for us to contact your physician and to acknowledge the health information privacy act (HIPPA) and safety standards around milk donation.
You don’t have to fast and there is no charge to you. You can get your blood drawn at UAMS in Little Rock or a Quest facility.
If you need to get your blood drawn somewhere else, UAMS can send you the supplies you will need to send it back to them so they can run the tests!
Approved donors can drop off milk at the depot located at: 220 N. Sidney Ave., Russellville, AR
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
You can also acontact UAMS to have shipping containers sent to you (free of charge).

Breast milk is essential for a baby’s growth, development, and overall health, especially for premature and fragile newborns. The UAMS Milk Bank, established in 2021 through Arkansas Act 225, addresses the critical need for donor milk by collecting, rigorously screening, pasteurizing, and testing donations according to FDA and Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA) standards.
This locally managed resource eliminates reliance on out-of-state milk banks, reducing costs and delays, and ensures timely support for neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) across Arkansas. With one of the highest infant mortality rates in the nation, improving breastfeeding rates and access to donor milk is a vital step toward giving every baby the healthiest start possible.
There is no minimum or maximum amount required to donate at one time. Donors are asked to commit to donating 100 ounces over their entire donation period.
UAMS only accepts frozen milk that has previously been stored in freezers, preferably deep freezers.
UAMS prefers to receive milk before it is six months old.
If you have milk that is older than six months, please contact UAMS for further assessment.
After pasteurization and lab testing, the majority of donor milk is sent to Arkansas neonatal intensive care units.
The UAMS Milk Bank and all other HMBANA accredited milk banks do not provide financial compensation for donated milk. They cannot endorse or support direct financial compensation or payment or third party compensation in any form for your donation. For more information please check out this link.
Donors are supported for their time and effort to donate their milk. The UAMS Milk Bank covers shipping costs for the milk, testing and processing of the milk. They help connect our generous community of donors to those in need in our state both in NICUs and families with newborns struggling to get breastfeeding started.
UAMS will gladly send insulated boxes and cover all shipping expenses for donors who wish to send their milk.
Donors may send UAMS frozen milk that is within the acceptable age range and free of restricted medications and therapies.
Please note, for safety reasons, milk sent to the milk bank cannot be returned.
All types of milk storage containers are acceptable.
However, UAMS can provide storage bags when available, so that donors do not have to purchase their own.
Approved donors are allowed to donate for as long as they wish, regardless of the age of their baby.
UAMS is the state’s only health sciences university, with colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Professions and Public Health; a graduate school; a hospital; a main campus in Little Rock; a Northwest Arkansas regional campus in Fayetteville; a statewide network of regional campuses; and eight institutes: the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute, Harvey & Bernice Jones Eye Institute, Psychiatric Research Institute, Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging, Translational Research Institute, Institute for Digital Health & Innovation and the Institute for Community Health Innovation.
